We are the planners and co-owners of Modern Social Events, Maddy & Cass.
We met in 2019 and quickly realized that we shared a passion for everything related to weddings and event planning. Between the two of us, we have almost a decade of experience in the events industry and as two peas in a pod, we produce some of our very best work together.
We planned hundreds of weddings as event and catering coordinators before we decided to dip our toes into other areas of the industry such as venue management, styling, and brand marketing. With such a diverse background in the industry, we can approach every event through many different perspectives to ensure that the overall plan for your special day will work for you, and for each of your amazing vendors.

I’ve always been a technical kind of gal. I love to overthink every situation, and I’m always running through every possible scenario to any problem. You could say that I’m just a little type-A! Naturally, I gravitated towards logistical work and once I caught the wedding bug, it never left. I fell in love with the world of meticulous floor plans, structured timelines, and don’t get me started on wedding to-do lists. I love lists. As a detail-obsessed, coffee-loving worker bee who loves to do everything myself, I’d say I definitely ended up in the right place.
I'm a lover of all things bold + bright, and am instantly drawn to anything with a streak of gold, a sprinkle of sparkle, or a hint of classic tradition. Don’t get me wrong, I still love monochromatic, neutral color palettes and sophisticated minimalism, but mixing patterns and prints with vibrant colors and textures to create a chic look is literally my love language. I like to learn who my couples are – your likes and dislikes, all of your silly quirks and hobbies, and especially, your love story! Together, we'll craft a design with thoughtful, meaningful details for a curated, authentic experience.

Growing up as a twin, I was always part of a team. I've known how to work and thrive along someone’s side for as long as I can remember. My parents were role models of coordination, organization, and kindness. Naturally, once I had a taste of event planning and day-of coordinating, I was completely and utterly hooked! I fell madly in love with the process and all of the details that go into planning such a memorable day. Ever since then, you’ll never catch me without my color coordinated to-do lists, or my notepad and pen which is always ready to scribble down whatever creative idea pops up from surrounding inspiration.

As a lover of all things wild + whimsical, give me pampas grass, rattan chandeliers, and a moody, dimensional palette, and I am head over heels. Those are all of the elements that make me happy.
My approach to planning & design is helping you find the elements that make you happy. Your wedding details should be a collection of things that you love — and ultimately, what pulls the whole vision together is the fact that each little detail is representative of you. I am all about authenticity, and I love diving deep and learning what makes you, you!

Like all modern day love stories, we met the wholesome, old-fashioned way…on Hinge! Three years later, in December of 2021, we hosted a New Year’s Eve wedding (we told ya, we're party lovers!) and it was epic! I got to live out my royal wedding dreams as I married my best friend downtown at the Cathedral in front of 180 of our closest family and friends. Our reception followed in Historic Old Town Alexandria at the Torpedo Factory where we moved into dinner, dancing, and rung in 2022! It was literally the wedding of the year and the absolute best day of our lives.

Your entire journey together has been leading to that very moment…the second that you get to stand side-by-side and start a brand new adventure together as one.
